ABOUT THE AWARDS:

A little bit about the Awards and how they began...Well, they started as a fun and feel good way to promote brands that deserve extra recognition and also give credit to our home interiors suppliers, thank our wonderful clients and support our friends and contacts - most of whom are 'movers and shakers' and individuals who excel and make things happen. The winners of the previous ten awards include Herbert Ypma for HIP Hotels and associated HIP brands, international publisher and broadcaster Andrew Neil for best client, film producer Lisa Tchenguiz for 'The World Unseen', royal couturier Jacques Azagury for his work for HRH Diana, Princess of Wales, luxury brand PR Amanda Kyme for her work with Jimmy Choo and Jo Malone, celebrity hairdresser Charles Worthington and his partner Allan Peters for best hosts London & France, Shutters On The Beach in Los Angeles and Carolyn Quartermaine for her stunning hand painted textiles. When we realised how seriously the whole thing was being taken by the participants and saw the impact of the event, we decided to take the Awards to another level. The whole exercise is currently non profit making/non commercial. However, this year or next we are planning to introduce a charity fundraising element to the presentation dinner. In the meantime, a big THANKYOU to the fabulous new bar 'Tini' in Walton Street, London, for offering to host our pre Awards cocktail party....they don't know what they are letting themselves in for. Stephen Webster, recently replaced Jade Jagger as Creative Director at crown jewellers, Garrard. Stephen has created fabulous jewellery for everyone from Kate Moss to his muse Christina Aguilera (pictured with him above) - although he still may best be known for creating Madonna and Guy Ritchie's wedding rings. We love Stephen - he's extremely talented, very well respected around the globe, is an unassuming kind of guy and...not bad looking either! NOMINEE 2009: LANCE ARMSTRONG FOR 'LIVESTRONG'

Lance Armstrong is an American professional road racing cyclist who rides for UCI ProTeam Team Astana. He won the Tour de France a record-breaking seven consecutive years, from 1999 to 2005. He is the only individual to win seven times, having broken the previous record of five wins, shared by Miguel Indurain and Bernard Hinault, Eddy Merckx and Jacques Anquetil. He has survived testicular cancer, a tumor that metastasized to his brain and lungs, in 1996. His cancer treatments included brain and testicular surgery and extensive chemotherapy, and his prognosis was originally poor. In 1999, Lance was named the American Broadcasting company Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Year. In 2000 he won the Prince of Asturias Award in Sports. In 2002, Sports Illustrated magazine named him Sportsman of the Year. He was also named Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year for 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005. He received ESPN's ESPY Award for Best Male Athlete in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006, and won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Overseas Personality Award in 2003. Armstrong retired from racing on July 24, 2005, at the end of the 2005 Tour de France, but returned to competitive cycling in 2009.
